I love to play violin music since I was a kid. My first recording I got for my 9th birthday was the Brahms sonata nr 2 op 100 for violin and piano, called the Meistersinger!

Geertje Podevyn, is born in Flanders in 1962 and received The First Music Lessons with her Grandfather at 9 years and later at the Local Music Academy of Lokeren. Her Motivation and Inspiration to start Violin Lessons came from her Family who were Passionate Listeners to Radio Klara Belgium.

Laureate Yehudi Menuhin Foundation Live Music Now ! Geertje studied with Paul Malfait, Dirk Vermeulen and Rudolph Werthen at The Royal Conservatory of Ghent, where She received her Bachelor’s Diploma in 1986 with great honours. In 1990 Geertje Podevyn became a Laureate of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation Live Music Now !

2002 She was Concertmaster at The Bangkok Opera.
2018 She was invited to the Ural Symphony Orchestra as Second Concertmaster.
Since 2013 She is First Violinist at Philharmonie Zuid Nederland.

Teaching is Fun !

During her Conservatory study, Geertje started teaching and has built up her own private teaching practice in addition to her orchestral work. She has extensive experience in teaching and guiding students. She obtained her International Degree in Education in 2011,CVO Diepenbeek. She became a Music Teacher in the British School of Brussels, the European School and European String Specialist under the Royal Patronage of H.R.H. Princess Galyani at the Bangkok Symphony School Thailand. Geertje also developed a new successful violin method Violinwonderland, easy and fun, no notes just look! Geertje was asked for Violinwonderland projects in Chiang Rai, Maechan, Tanzania, the Netherlands and Belgium with support from Rotary, Lions (www.maechanhouse.com) She also developed Musicwonderland, a general modern music Methodology for Special Young People in collaboration with the City of Sint Truiden, Walibi and Maastricht. Since 2013 Geertje has also been a very successful teacher at Vormingplus, Chiang Rai Youth Project and presently at Trajekt Maastricht, Kunstketel.

Geertje teaches internationally in Dutch, French, English, Spanish and Thai.

Violinwonderland is based on easy movements and music pleasure for everybody! The younger generation uses their eyes for hours daily on the Internet, Phones, TV, for “School Work “ so why not on the violin ? By watching and feeling the right movements , you just copy paste and the beautiful music comes by itself ! Of course Violinwonderland makes violin playing really simple, no music reading, and using little tricks like signs on the fingerboard (similar to guitar frets) , plucking the strings (like the harp or guitar) and bow games. If you learn with pleasure , you learn fast and really good. Violinwonderland has helped hundreds of children to build a great future in their lives worldwide and improve their school results with pleasure.

Individual
Geertje gives individual instrument lessons for 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on the age and wishes of the student. The students take their education seriously and get support from their family.
1 Intake lesson for free 🙂

The tuition fees are based on annual payment. Preparation for ABRSM exams and Concert Performance. Geertje focuses on posture, technique and musicality online Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet.

In agreement with the student, a fixed lesson time is chosen.

Fun Group Violinwonderland, Schools and Organisations
Violinwonderland group lesson instrument for Everyone !
Everyone can join without any knowledge of music, no notes, just play with a lot of fun!
In the lessons for real small children it is desirable that the family sometimes attend part of the group lessons. It is also possible to take parents and grandparents together with their children and grandchildren in the group lessons ! Really nice !
Instrument use is included, but the instruments remain on site.
After 10 lessons, instruments can be rented via animus vzw and taken home.
Rental instruments: Rent study violin €15/ month. (+100€ Axa insurance)
Group lesson from 4 students to 16 students.
